ABSTRACT

In this chapter, different routes to prepare the textured YBa2 Cu307 (YBCO) superconductor material will be described as: 2D thickfilm YBCO fabrics, 3D YBCO textured foams, and 3D multiple holes textured YBCO. The novel morphology of superconducting fabric, foam, or bulk superconductor with multiple holes material processed seems to be a good candidate for increasing interfacial flux pinning if the pores can be made sufficiently small. Resistivity measurements were performed using the standard four-point contact method. The mono-domain YBCO (Y123) with various shapes have been successfully prepared from commercially available Y203 cloth, polyurethane as a raw material, and Y211 with artificial patterned holes. In all cases, the SIG process has been used. The superconducting properties are comparable to the conventional melt textured Y123 superconductors.
