ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews strategies for enhancing critical current density, Jc of MgB2 superconductor from the perspective of powder technology. It is divided into three main sections: tuning magnesium and boron in undoped samples addition with rare earth oxides, and some large-scale applications of MgB2. Finally, the importance of powder technology for MgB2 and its relationship with some of the United National Sustainable Development Goals are concluded. The three important critical parameters, namely critical current density, upper critical field, and critical temperature define application range of superconductors. Progress in fabrication of wires and tapes based on the powderin-tube method has benefited tremendously from the development of the powder technology of MgB2. The progress in the powder technology is clearly an innovation to ensure long-term sustainable development in the industry of MgB2.
