ABSTRACT

In this paper, a compact dual port Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) antenna for WLAN application is designed. An antenna is etched on 15 mm × 30 mm × 1.6 mm FR4 substrate which is cheap and easily available. This paper focuses on a small antenna size offering mutual coupling <−10 dB between frequencies 4.82 GHz to 6 GHz with low return loss and good diversity performance. The simulation result shows the designed antenna is suitable for WLAN application in 5 GHz band (5.15–5.84 GHz). In MIMO antenna technology, diversity performance analysis based on envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), diversity gain, and total active reflection coefficient (TARC) is an important aspect which is also simulated and discussed in this paper.
