ABSTRACT

Blockchain is a buzzword that is enhancing the applicability of various technologies by providing them with security features. Blockchain supports Internet of Things (IoT) based devices by providing integrity and privacy to the data being produced. A massive number of such devices exist, which are generally low powered. To provide a computing environment for these devices, edge computing plays a very major role. Blockchain also consumes a lot of computation resources for mining a block. The edge computing supports blockchain and mobile devices by providing features such as low latency, local proximity, mobility support to the latency-sensitive, and compute-intensive applications. In this paper, the integration of these technologies is discussed, proliferating in various areas. Study area, techniques/algorithms used, problems, and solutions on the collaboration of these technologies are investigated. This paper explores the integration of IoT, mobile-edge-computing, blockchain, and it is evident that various technologies will be benefited.
