ABSTRACT

In the era of the 21st century, many developed and developing countries face the problem of traffic congestion. Few densely populated cities in India, like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Pune Delhi, face such a problem even though India is so advanced in the field of science and technology. Many fields such as Advanced Transport Management System (ATMS) depend on the results for implementation of the traffic signal. To regulate the traffic demand, shorten the queue length and prioritize the emergency vehicle in intersections. Optimization of a traffic light signal includes many parameters such as vehicle density, flow rate, and delay to obtain efficient results. The author proposes swarm intelligence techniques to optimize the traffic light signal system. First, it detects the traffic density through sensors and, secondly, computed the results using swarm intelligence techniques. It works based on First Come First Serve (FCFS) in the intersection and road junctions.
