ABSTRACT

This paper presents the Grey Wolf Optimization- (GWO) based frequency control of a micro-grid consisting of the Diesel Engine Generator (DEG), Fuel Cell (FC), Photo-Voltaic (PV) system, Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS), Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and Wind Energy Generator (WEG). The membership function of the Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) is tuned using a GWO technique. A comparative evaluation of frequency variation of a micro-grid using a conventional proportional–integral (PI) controller, PI plus FLC, and PI plus FLC plus GWO is investigated. It is found that the performance of three combined techniques, i.e., PI plus FLC plus GWO, is superior over the other two.
