ABSTRACT

Wireless technologies, advances in telecommunications, mobile proliferation have made communication and information sharing readily available. “Any time, anywhere, any device” is the norm expected by customers. Industries have adapted to this demand by enhancing the products, sales channels, and services and collecting and using the data to offer better value-added services. Customers have become more open to sharing their information and knowing how they fare concerning the other customers. Industries have applied these interconnected devices or networks to transform business models and offer better products and services. This chapter will pass through the evolution of IIoT (industrial Internet of Things), the proliferation and market share, and examples across major industries. These examples culminate into the learning plan for the students embarking on the IIOT journey. Let us fasten our seat belts and be on the accelerated move to experience Industry 4.0 through Education 4.0.
