ABSTRACT

A rapid progression is happening in augmented reality (AR) technology, especially in the healthcare discipline. There is an enormous potential in AR technology to enhance the patient’s safety and ease the medical practitioner’s services. AR applications in the healthcare domain consist of doctor and patient interaction, local surgeon and remote surgeon interaction, rehabilitation, and other phobia treatments. The case studies of AR in the healthcare discipline include medical education, nurse training, dentistry, surgical visualization, and diagnostic imaging. Medical practitioners use AR gadgets such as Google Glass, 3D display devices, video cameras, projectors and trackers, and software packages to improve the services offered in healthcare.
