ABSTRACT

A cellular automata (CA)-based model is investigated in this chapter to facilitate an energy-efficient scheduling and deployment with industrial wireless sensor networks (WSNs) in the Industry 4.0 scenario. The complete set of elementary CA (ECA) rule is explored in this chapter to facilitate a modeling toward the scheduling and deployment for industrial WSNs in Industry 4.0. Detailed analysis and investigations related to the dynamics of the proposed CA-based design at different fixed boundary conditions explored its true potential and cost-effectiveness with reference to the hardware and software implementation. Additionally, low power consumption is predicted with the presented CA-based approach as CA-based designs ensure low power consumption at the physical level.
