ABSTRACT

This paper reviews various methods of reconstructing the underground levels of historical buildings. The traditional method is to lay the framework for underground stories and remove the earth from under the building’s floors. It has a number of drawbacks. Namely, the method is too labor-intensive and costly. We propose an innovative technology for constructing underground structures underneath historical buildings. The key idea is to move the building to a vacant plot of land. Once freed up, the building’s original location can be used as a traditional construction site for underground structures.
