ABSTRACT

In modern conditions, one of the most important factors in the growth and development of historic industrial cities is the rethinking of the use of abandoned and empty territories. Often these areas are coastal areas that have unique characteristics and growth potential. The article examines the features of the organization of the mixed typology living environment in the context of the height restrictions of Kronstadt, which is a unique island city and is currently actively developing as a tourist center. The principles that influence the choice of housing typology based on the experience of designing residential complexes in other countries in similar conditions are highlighted. The factors that determine the placement of housing in the study area are investigated. The identification signs of the city are described. In conclusion, the result of the study is given: the principles of designing a residential complex as part of a public and business cluster.
