ABSTRACT

The relationship between the Нр magnetic parameter of the passive ferroprobe method and structural changes in building steels during thermal cycling treatment was revealed. It was found out that the most significant changes in the Нр parameter occur during the first three processing cycles (heating-cooling), meanwhile a fine-grained structure is formed out of the initial structure of building steels, which is confirmed by microstructural studies. With a further increase in the number of cycles, a decrease in Hp values is observed and the degree of microstructure refinement increases. The high structural sensitivity of the passive ferroprobe method, as well as the high productivity in comparison with metallographic analysis, make it possible to recommend it for monitoring structural changes in metal during the formation of a fine-grained structure with a given degree of dispersion in building steels during thermal cycling treatment under industrial conditions.
