ABSTRACT
The evaluation approach of the effective management to the fire safety in a building was considered in this article. It was proposed to use self-rescue means from a high-rise building in order to decrease the expected risk to life (ERL) in a building. It is a method that makes it possible to consider the use of rescue evacuation means. It can help to take informed management decisions regarding the number and types of rescue evacuation means, which any building should be equipped in order to obtain the ERL less than maximum ERL allowed.
