ABSTRACT

This chapter looks into different polymer wastes that can be used as sustainable sources for different metal-ion batteries (MIBs). Along with sustainability, cost-effectiveness is also a promising attribute of polymeric waste materials. Most importantly, different polymeric wastes such as used plastic containers/bottles could be recycled as electrode materials in MIBs. This could effectively reduce plastic pollution, which is considered one of the major concerns across the world. Different strategies to treat polymeric wastes, for example pyrolysis, will be well introduced. Then the various applications of treated polymeric wastes in MIBs will be summarized.
