ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the efforts in the direction ofstrengthening the amalgamation of green into chemistry, so ultimately the word green can be removed from the term. In the 1990s, the Pollution Prevention Act was passed, which shifted the focus of environment protection from controlling pollution to preventing pollution. In the last 20 years, a significant amount of education material has been collected and used primarily for two teaching methodologies for undergraduates and graduates-one in which the study material has been incorporated into the existing chemistry curriculum and the second wherein standalone courses have been designed. Professional bodies, like the ACS Green Chemistry Institute, through conferences and workshops designed especially for the development of educational material, have been able to raise a formidable compilation of educational material in the form of an annotated bibliography, laboratory exercises, lecture modules, and videos.
