ABSTRACT

In recent years, digitalization has revolutionized all the sectors, particularly journalism. Higher education also witnesses the digital shift, resulting in teachers using digital tools as an aid for teaching. Due to this shift, English teaching has benefited tremendously by using the digital medium. Especially, digital journalism has contributed to teaching English for specific purposes (ESPs) further, instilling interest in the students for their communication competency and literary skills. Given the importance of communication competency and literary skills in ESPs, the chapter will propose the integration of digital journalism as a new teaching methodology by designing a model curriculum for undergraduate courses. The chapter will also analyze the scope and challenges of using the digitalized print media for teaching ESPs and its implications for communication competency and literary skills by using digital journalistic content for better results.
