ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights the importance of the current study of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) as it encourages and advocates the application of PGPR as bio-inoculants and helps replace the harmful chemical fertilizers. The PGPR isolates may also be used as biofertilizers to enhance the growth and productivity of commercial plants, thereby improving the economic stability of a developing economy such as India. The microbial consortium used in the present study could be used as efficient PGPR for mustard production. PGPR use in agriculture is an environment-friendly and cost-effective method. There are several methods commonly used for improving the yield of agricultural crops promoting biodiversity in crops grown in ecosystem that focuses on maintaining economic stability to improve their techniques and the quality of life. PGPR have been enhancing the agriculture productivity with the future prospects and perspectives through modern tools and techniques such as nano-fertilizers, nanomaterials and biosensors from the fields of nanotechnology and biotechnology.
