ABSTRACT
Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging area that provides inter-connection between the physical world and virtual environment using different sensors, devices, controllers, processes, and services with the help of Internet. This chapter focuses on various aspects of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) and describes their applicability to be best suitable for realization of the IoT environment. This chapter gives a detailed survey about types of ad hoc networks, their architecture, characteristics, applications, advantages, and various challenges in MANET specifically for IoT. In this chapter, we further discuss various types of energy-related issues in MANET along with various energy conservation routing protocols.
