ABSTRACT
This study explains the necessity of clean energy sources and techniques by which we estimate solar energy/irradiance at any location. One way to estimate or forecast solar energy potential uses meteorological variables which are collected from various agencies in India. Accurate forecasting of solar energy depends on the soft computing technique used. With the help of a soft computing technique, we can rank the parameter responsible for solar energy potential/irradiance as well as correlations associated among the parameters. Various soft computing techniques are discussed in this chapter with their relative advantages and disadvantages.
