ABSTRACT

This case history describes an investigation of a lake for a planned crossing by a mainline sewage pipe. Approximately 1.5 km of the pipe was planned to be placed on the lake bottom in addition to 2.5 km on land. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) was used during the planning phase to establish whether the suggested location was feasible or there were too many obstacles present in the lake or shallow bedrock on land. The case includes practical survey and planning considerations along with examples of interpretations and results.
