ABSTRACT

Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are playing a vital role in the treatment of recalcitrant pollutants present in water streams. AOP is an environmental friendly and cost-effective technology. AOP based on semiconductor-mediated photocatalysis is gaining importance for the treatment of pollutants present in water and wastewater. This chapter presents the application of solar-based photocatalysis for the treatment of pollutants present in saline water. A case study on employing surface response methodology (RSM) to optimize the process parameters in the treatment of saline water was discussed.
