ABSTRACT

The changes in glycoprotein abundance, glycosylation degree, and glycan structure are closely associated with various biological processes. Quantitative analysis of the changes in protein glycosylation at the proteome level can reveal the dynamics of glycoprotein in a cell, tissue, or organism, which is critical for our understanding of the role of glycosylation in biologic processes globally. MS-based technologies have considerably advanced the quantitative analysis of glycoproteome. Compared with many other modifications with a fixed structure of the modified group, the diversity of glycans makes its quantitative analysis more challenging. In this chapter, recently developed quantitative approaches in glycoproteome and their applications were reviewed. The advantages and limitations of these technologies were also discussed.
