ABSTRACT

Big Data has the capability to store enormous amounts of information that can do wonders because of the great potential that is hidden in it. Various sources of Big Data in health care industries include the records of the hospital patients’ medical records, and the results of the medical tests. This large amount of data requires the analysis and management to extract meaningful and useful information; otherwise, it is very difficult to analyze Big Data in a fast manner. To provide good solutions, the health care industries must be fully equipped with the related infrastructure to generate and analyze Big Data systematically. Patient outcomes can be improved by analyzing the Big Data. Personalized medicine and care and health care relationships with the patients can be obtained with less cost. There are many challenges for handling the Big Data in every step, which can be transcended by using the computing solutions for analyzing the data. Therefore, efficient analysis, interpretation, and management are required for modern health care. The health care industries are taking meticulous steps to take this potential into financial benefits. In this chapter, the challenges of Big Data analytics like the high volume of the data collected from various health care centers across multiple platforms are also discussed.
