ABSTRACT

The integration of metal chalcogenide nanoparticles into MOFs to develop MOF@metal chalcogenide (MOF@MC) nanocomposites has gained significant interest for application in a variety of fields including sensing, photocatalysis, and energy. MOF-chalcogenide nanocomposites not only combine the advantages of the two materials but also display new and unique functionalities arising from the synergistic interaction of both components. The superior performance of these composites has inspired researchers to develop MOF@MC suited for the intended applications. The synthesis of MOF@MC nanocomposites with improved electron-conducting properties can greatly boost the electrochemical applications of integrated MOF materials. This chapter systematically summarizes the development of MOF@MC nanocomposites using versatile synthesis and fabrication strategies. The electrochemical application of MOF-derived metal chalcogenides has also been discussed. Finally, the prospects of MOF@MC nanocomposites for future applications have been explored.
