ABSTRACT

Sally Eaton is the current Library Coordinator of the Broome Public Library. In the following interview, Sally Eaton talks about her library’s dedication in serving the local schools and children—in a community that values freedom and a great lifestyle in a pristine and colourful environment. The library provides a reliable outsourced Internet service for people to log into and use for up to one day at a time. For events like Children’s Book Week, held in August every year, we apply for funding to provide an author or illustrator to visit Broome and conduct sessions in the library for school students to attend. In a way, residents in Broome are already quite isolated—and Broome is one of the most isolated towns in regional Australia. In addition, a weekly Facebook live Virtual Lego Challenge was set as well as holiday craft activities were demonstrated via the Broome Public Library Facebook page.
