ABSTRACT

Traditionally chamomile is a herbal medicinal plant in Egypt, Greece, Rome, Germany, Western Europe, and Northern Africa, belong to the family of Asteraceae and categorized into two types, German (Matricaria recutita) and Roman (Chamaemelum nobile) Chamomile. The chamomile flowers exhibit curative properties to alleviate colic in children, help in digestion, treat gastritis, minimize the ulcerative colitis, diminish inflammation/intestinal cramps, and simplify bowel movement. It is very useful in treatment of diverticular disorder and has a positive effect on an upset stomach, dispelling gas and muscle relaxation.
