ABSTRACT

Dandelion, Taraxacum officinale, is a highly nutritious plant with a rich source of vitamin, fiber, minerals, and antioxidants. This chapter affirms that dandelion is effective as an antifibrotic agent with anti-hepatocellular carcinoma activity by inhibition of PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway and high fat-induced hepatic steatosis, acute and chronic gastritis, and other digestive disorders. Furthermore, the anti-ulcer and antidiabetic activities of dandelion against ethanol and carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatocellular injury with NF-κß modulation and α-glucosidase enzyme have shown promising anti-lipid peroxidative and anti-inflammatory effects. In addition, dandelion effectively suppresses the viability of stomach cancer by targeting the cells of lncRNA-CCAT1. This literature review clearly indicates the medicinal value of dandelion against various digestive disorders.
