ABSTRACT

The concept of CPSs originated in 2006 and it is considered a significant component in the IR 4.0 environment. The CPSs is defined as a system that sends and receives data or information between various connected devices. The main architectural design of CPSs revolves around 3Cs, i.e., computation, communication, and control. However, this concept has evolved to 5Cs, RAMI 4.0, and IIRA operational designs, respectively. This chapter aims to develop the basic understanding of the CPSs concept, characteristics, technology requirements, and evolution timeline of CPSs architecture. This information will be helpful for the readers to understand the base and working design of CPSs.
