ABSTRACT

Modelling and simulation of Cyber Physical Systems (CPSs) is a research field that applies modelling and simulation to design and evaluates new constructs. Authoring a model of a digger that is as detailed as possible, determining how simulating wind will affect a construction site, building a model in a computer that replicates the angle and airflow of the solar panel installation process are few examples of this research field. CPSs for construction projects successfully combines new and old technologies, and as such, they are an integral part of the future of the industry. This chapter describes the preliminary aspects necessary for developing CPSs, such as modelling and computing elements, while also providing an overview of the challenges encountered in CPSs modelling within an actual network system framework.
