ABSTRACT

Humanitarian logistics seeks to streamline the process of delivering goods and information related to natural or anthropogenic disasters. In the literature, it has been found that research focuses more on actions to be taken once the event has occurred and less on prevention. The literature also identifies three phases of humanitarian logistics: pre-disaster, post-disaster and recovery. Simulation can help in the first phase so that organizations can develop more efficient contingency plans. There are different technological tools for simulation, the tool used in this work is the Menge framework, which works very well to simulate crowd. As a case study, one of the buildings of the Technological Institute of Ciudad Juárez was modeled and simulated. Future work aims to model the entire institution and contrast the times and trajectories obtained in the simulation with the simulations that are performed in the institution and the development of a computer tool based on Menge and Unity so that the administrators of the institute can test different distributions and assess whether evacuation in case of emergency is more efficient with changes of distributions.
