ABSTRACT

Pronounced digital circuits such as counters, sequential state machines, frequency dividers make an extensive use of Toggle Flip Flop (T FF). Accordingly, a MOS based conventional T FF is studied and investigated for design metrics such as delay (tp ), power (pwr), Power Delay Product (PDP) and Energy Delay Product (EDP). Additionally, MCML (MOS Current Mode Logic) based implementation are examined for T FF. The research article proposes a modish design of MOS based MCML TFF. The proposed design surfaces as proficient candidate for numerous T FF based digital designs as it yields superior results compared to conventional counterparts. Precisely, it offers high speed operation (2×), improvement in power dissipation (2.2×), improvement in PDP (4.53×) and improvement in EDP (9.06×). Thus, the proposed implementation edges out as high-speed low-power MOS based MCML T FF ideal for latest digital design applications.
