ABSTRACT

COVID-19 pandemic has altered the lifestyle of a vast global population. Technologies have been seen to provide better services to get us out of this pandemic. So, robotics also showed us various innovative possibilities to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, health professionals must perform everyday duties such as temperature checking, bed sheet changes, rooms disinfected, deliver food to patients, medications and check patients’ status. Robotic technology reduces the interactions between the patient and health professionals. The primary reasons for the use of robotics are to maintain social distancing and lower the burden of physicians. It can repeat the work very effectively and, unlike people, do not grow weary. The fight against COVID-19, with new chances, difficulties and hazards, is being implemented by robotics, drones and other technology. This pandemic is generating new applications of robotics technology for telehealth solutions for crowd-managing. Thermal imagery is also utilised to identify individuals with high body temperatures. This chapter discusses robotics and its significant benefits in taking up the challenges of COVID-19. The major strength of this chapter is the identification and discussion of significant applications of robotics for public health, including safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. Robotics also plays an integral part in the struggle to improve people's health and safety and can be used to monitor individuals during the lockdown. Finally, it is said that robotics applications can aid in the fight against coronavirus illness in various ways.
