ABSTRACT

Biomass waste may have different forms: wood waste, crops waste, and animal waste: these are the dominant waste, in general, in India. Bio-adsorbent is one of the important techniques to handle dye removal up to a sustainable level. There are various conventional methods available such as evaporation, solvent extraction, ion exchange, precipitation, photocatalysis, electrocoagulation, etc. Each has its own pros and cons. Activated carbon extraction from the agricultural waste biomass has the strong color adsorption capability and hence, a good adsorbent. India has been growing quickly and its needs huge amount of energy to perform various industrial activities. The dying industry is one of the leading backbone industries of India. Dye in water has different harmful effects, especially color appearance. This chapter provides an overview of different agricultural waste biomass resources to extract activated carbon, which helps in the decolorization of dye wastewater.
