ABSTRACT

In the driest and oldest desert on earth, although native plant resources are scarce, there is a high variety and diversity of medicinal plant species used since ancient times from the first Indigenous communities to the current Indigenous populations. This study will gather all the available evidence on the plant species in the Atacama Desert that have potential medicinal use. A complete bibliographic review of representative plant species used by native peoples, established on the coast, valleys, intermediate depression, and the foothills that covers the Atacama Desert will be carried out.
