ABSTRACT

Nanotechnology is science, engineering, and technology conducted at the nanoscale, which is about 1 to 100 nanometers. In other words, nanotechnology is the design and fabrication of materials, devices, and systems with control at nanometer dimensions. Nanoscience and nanotechnology are the study and application of extremely small things and can be used across all the other science fields, such as Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Materials science, and Engineering. Over the past decade, nanomaterials have been the subject of enormous interest. Nanomaterials have extremely small size which having at least one dimension 100 nm or less. Nanomaterials can be metals, ceramics, polymeric materials, or composite materials. It can be nanoscale in one dimension, two dimensions, or three dimensions. They can exist in single, fused, aggregated, or agglomerated forms with spherical, tubular, and irregular shapes. Common types of nanomaterials include nanotubes, thin films, nanofibers, nanorods, nanoparticles, dendrimers, quantum dots, and fullerenes. Nanomaterials have applications in the field of nanotechnology and displays different physical and chemical characteristics.
