ABSTRACT

The motivation behind this chapter is to provide a comprehensive survey on power loss minimization in the radial distribution networks incorporating distributed energy sources and the reconfiguration in the prevailing structure. The prime focus of power group researchers is to decrease the losses occurring in the delivery system, so as to increase the system performance in terms of voltage and efficiency. The deployment of distribution sources, capacitors, and the reconfiguration of the network are the commonly used techniques for the reduction in the real power loss. The inclusion of renewable energy sources into the distribution system leads to the smart building concept. Hence, the methods of renewable source integration with power loss minimization are more significant in the power system field. The authors believe that the scope of pursuing research in the field of power loss minimization is the state of art, and this chapter gives an extensive study of various methods adopted by various researchers from the base.
