ABSTRACT

The outbreak of many technological developments has led to numerous changes in our daily life. In our busy schedule, we often tend to ignore the importance of health and well-being. The main reason is lack of health monitoring systems available for common people use. It is almost impossible to monitor our everyday health continuously due to lack and cost of medical supervisors while at home. We can overcome the abovementioned difficulties by using Internet of things (IoT) technology and wearable health sensors. The proposed system consists of wearable sensors like pulse oximeter, temperature sensor, and panic buzzer. All these sensors are interfaced with Raspberry Pi 3, which has built-in Wi-fi and Bluetooth modules. The data acquired from the sensors are sent to the cloud via Raspberry Pi. IoT platform (ThingSpeak) enables us to access the data and shows a graphical representation of the measured health parameters like temperature, pulse rate, saturated oxygen level, and blood pressure. Through this, the health parameters can be monitored continuously, and whenever the health parameters exceed beyond threshold values, an alert email message is sent to the concerned individual and also to the nearby health center. Thus, we can ensure the safety and healthy living of the people in smart buildings living within.
