ABSTRACT

In this book, the author discusses many ways to improve our potential to land a user experience job before the employers even start to look for specific opportunities. He covers building our brand and online identity, creating a resume and identifying ideal work samples, and considering whether employers should be looking for in-house or consulting work or should consider becoming an independent contractor. If the employees are looking for contract work, it is often easier to be open about this, since they won’t necessarily have to worry about upsetting an existing employer. The path of each interview will be different, so show our flexibility by going with flow of whatever they have planned. The employers may be initially asked to tell a little bit about our background and then show items from our portfolio. An internship is excellent opportunity to learn and grow professionally. As an intern, the employees get to experience—firsth and—what it’s like to work within an organization.
