ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the convergence of User Experience (UX) careers: all of those foundational elements that are generally relevant regardless of our actual UX job type. It delves into details about specific UX career pathways and skill sets. Over the years, with many types of deep experiences, some highly diversified UX professionals may begin to approach unicorn status; but don’t expect that to be a short road or one that everyone needs to achieve. UX professionals who have a primary career pathway plus multiple secondary pathways are more common than single-tracked experts. In fact, it may be easier to think of these career pathways as common skill sets that can be mixed and matched as an amalgam of who the employers are and the kind of work that is available.
