ABSTRACT

The new challenge for User Experience (UX) designers will be designing interactions in which the central aspects of these interactions are largely unscripted, while many of the same skills that an interaction designer currently uses will likely be leveraged in the design of the Artificial Intelligence (AI)-supported product. Designers will also likely be leveraging tools that will use AI to create sophisticated design elements. While these creations may make design work easier in some ways, it will be even more important for designers to have the skills necessary to critique designs that were created by AI and make sure that UX needs are met. The uptake of emerging technologies into both consumer and business applications is happening at an almost frighteningly fast rate. While there will remain a strong ongoing need for screen-based software design and UX, there are increasingly other areas of technology emerging that will require UX as well.
