ABSTRACT

Sometimes soft skills may be innate—reader are just naturally good at something without ever formally learning that skill. Alternatively, these soft skills may only come with training, thought, and effort. Empathy is a UX superpower and something that will give the learners insights necessary to do our job as well as help the learners be respected as a UX professional. In fact, both empathy and communication start with listening to both verbal and nonverbal information. Empathy channels that listening into feelings. Most certainly, having empathy can make our responses more effective. While the projects the learners work on may have a designed project leader or leaders, don’t believe for a moment that the learners need to wait until they are promoted to an official project leadership position to demonstrate leadership skills. In fact, the quickest path to promotion is showing leadership skills.
