ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on working for an employer (whether as an employee of the company that needs our services or as an employee of a consulting firm/agency). As an in-house resource, the employees focus our energy on a single company, and they will likely work within a single product line or perhaps focus within a single corporate division. As an in-house employee, while our specific role on any given project will likely vary over time, the employees will often get to be a part of the entire project from the time they join until the product, or a new version of the product, is launched. Most importantly, when people in our company have questions, the employees should spend time with them to explain the value of good User Experience (UX) in providing corporate products. Working in a consulting agency could involve long-term, full-time placement as a contractor for a specific company—helping them meet their UX needs.
