ABSTRACT

The digital divide can pose a significant challenge for the education sector in India, with close to 300 million students enrolled in primary, secondary and higher education. The recent Covid-19 pandemic caused the closure of academic institutions and raised serious questions pertaining to accessibility, quality and affordability of the digital mode of learning and how the gap has been widened among those who have and have not. Keeping in mind these observations, this chapter aims to present the readers with a perspective by reviewing the actions undertaken by multiple stakeholders such as government, organizations both for profit and non-profit and academic institutions in order to bridge the gap.
