ABSTRACT

In recent years, interest in the real-time systems is increasing due to an increase in smart embedded technologies and time-sensitive applications. The healthcare applications are time-sensitive applications where different healthcare tasks must be executed within the deadline. The Cloud computing model is extensively used for the deployment of healthcare application as it provides an efficient way to manage and analyze healthcare data that is used for real-time monitoring of chronic diseases with efficient resource utilization, but it compromises service quality and timely execution. The majority of work done in this area is in resource provisioning and not enough work has been done in real-time scheduling of healthcare application on the Cloud environment. To address this problem in this chapter we propose a cluster-based real-time scheduling framework for healthcare applications on the Cloud computing environment. The different industrial case studies used for the Cloud environment for real-time healthcare services are presented in this chapter.
