ABSTRACT
This chapter covers the properties of current commercially available thermoplastic fluoropolymers. Firstly, there is a brief discussion of their properties (mechanical and optical properties) as related to their structure. Then there is a brief section comparing fluoroplastics and fluorocarbon elastomers in order to highlight the differences between thermoplastics and elastomers. The remainder of the chapter focuses on fluoroplastics and is a rather detailed discussion of the properties of individual fluoroplastics, such as the mechanical, electrical, chemical, optical, and other specific properties of each particular product. A more comprehensive discussion of fluoroelastomers is provided in Chapters 9, 10, and 11.
