ABSTRACT

Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) is well known for culinary and therapeutic uses. The coriander leaves are lanceolate and broadly lobed at the base of the plant. Coriander leaves are rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, calcium, carotenoids, polyphenols, and polyunsaturated fatty acids. The main volatile compounds in coriander leaf essential oil are alcohols and aldehydes. Results from in vitro and in vivo studies indicated the health benefits of coriander leaf intake in enhancing memory, reducing oxidative stress-related disorder, and preventing the growth of deleterious microorganisms.
