ABSTRACT

Assistive technology is a broad umbrella of terminology related to all tools that is helpful, adaptive, and rehabilitative, which is used by individuals with special needs, including individuals with intellectual disabilities. This study aimed to know the need fulfillment of student with intellectual disabilities in terms of the (1) availability of assistive technology; (2) types of assistive technology available; and (3) use of available assistive technology. The research subjects were 415 teachers in special schools and inclusive schools throughout Indonesia. Data were collected through online questionnaire. The data in this study were analyzed through descriptive analysis technique. The results showed that: (1) assistive technology was available at all education levels, although in a limited number; (2) the types of assistive technology available are mostly low technology; (3) not all available assistive technology was used in learning, and it was mostly implemented at the primary school level.
