ABSTRACT

The addition of Coronavirus cases in Indonesia has increased very sharply. In addition to the economic impact that is making people suffer, there is an unprecedented destruction of the education system in Indonesia and even the whole world. After the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia in mid-March of 2020, the central and regional governments set policies in the world of education, which is to temporarily eliminate direct face-to-face learning and replace it with online learning. This study aims to determine the support of parents and schools for online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was conducted at the Kindergarten Budi Mulia Dua Sedayu Bantul Yogyakarta. The research uses the qualitative approach with in-depth interviews in examining data with the parents and teachers, and distributes questionnaires to parents. The results in this study revealed the following: creating a comfortable environment, facilitating the child in learning, maintaining and ensuring the child to implement a clean and healthy life, accompanying children in learning, activities and playing activities together, guiding and motivating children. A guide is needed for parents so that children can understand and enjoy learning activities while at home in a fun way. Providing teacher learning materials by creating video materials and giving children the tools and materials they need, schools also make face-to-face programs twice a week, as well as one-on-one programs (one teacher one child), but there are still some parents who disagree with the program. Parent collaboration with schools is needed to support the ongoing online learning activities during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
