ABSTRACT

This study aims to examine how the effect of implementing the PORPE strategy improve understanding of the concept of social sciences in elementary schools through online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. It involved 42 subjects of undergraduate students from elementary school teachers (PGSD) of Yogyakarta State University. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method of one group pre-test/post-test design. The data was collected through tests, observations, and documentation. The obtained data was analyzed using descriptive statistics which was preceded by a prerequisite analysis test in the form of a normality test. While the hypothesis was tested using the T-test. The result showed that the PORPE strategy had a significant effect on the understanding of the concept of social sciences in elementary school materials for PGSD students with the t-count value of 11.955 > t-table value of 2.021 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05.
