ABSTRACT

This literature study aims to reveal the increase in ecological intelligence through strengthening social studies education against world climate change. The perverse way of life of humans causes the earth’s temperature to rise, now every part of the earth is experiencing global warming or climate change. This perverse way of life is caused by (1) minimal human knowledge regarding climate change, such as knowledge of the causes of climate change, the adverse effects of climate change, and ways of overcoming climate change; (2) the lack of empathy and social attitudes towards climate change; (3) and our lack of efforts in preventing climate change and cope with climate change that is now occurring. Social studies education has an important role in developing students’ ecological intelligence, with good ecological intelligence it is hoped that they will become responsible citizens of the world, namely by not destroying and repairing the damaged natural environment to return nature to a more sustainable state and to rid of climate change problem.
